Yay a drawing of wonder woman. I really love the current run and Cliff Chiang's design and Dianna's fun adventures with her wacky family and her sidekick and everything and it's just a really fun and solid story!!! Yeah Wonder Woman!
Great perspective, colours are popping and gorgeous, the pink background really complements and pushes WW to create a dynamic, vibrant image. Wonder Woman's eyes look rly nice. I lovelovelovelovelove that you were inspired by the Chiang's design because other artists don't capture his vision behind his drawings/version of her.
The broad shoulders as opposed to the traditional stick thin supermodel frame makes her look more warrior-esque and athletic, like an Olympic athlete, giving her a stronger and different presence than the many other superheroines. The large, long, grand look of the hair along with the colours also contributes to that. Many artists simply give her the short silky boring haircut that is applied to the majority of female comic characters minus a colour change. So kudos to you for capturing that; Wonder Woman deserves a unique aesthetic and design identity, that sets her apart due to the FEATURES. Even when not coloured. Otherwise outside the costume, Zatanna, Lois, WW, etc would all look the same, as they have under many artists.
I also largely prefer Chiang's breastplate (no eagle-head) and bracelets (curved at the edges and lines in the middle) as opposed to Jim Lee's.
The blue boots have grown on me but I still like the red in this particular picture. Have you drawn any other WW characters frm the new 52? Like Strife, Ares,First Born, Cheetah, etc? I can only imagine how great they would look drawn by you. I'd love to see your work on a WW book. This is a very memorable piece you have created. Thank you for this awesome take!
Thanks for the detailed comment! I'd definitely like to draw something that includes the rest of Diana's super fun mythical family. Really loving the current run, and the gods especially are so interestingly designed that it'd be fun to draw them.
